Onsite Ultrasound-Guided Regional Anesthesia Programs
Gulfcoast Ultrasound Institute has offered Ultrasound-Guided Regional Anesthesia programs since 2003. By working with leading anesthesiology experts, Gulfcoast Ultrasound Institute has designed programs to include brachial plexus, radial, median nerve, femoral, popliteal and saphenous nerve blocks. Ultrasound-guided vascular access is also incorporated into the programs.
The program features extensive hands-on instruction using both live models and inanimate phantoms. The 3-to-1 participant to instructor ratio expedites the learning process and maximizes the return on your investment.
The length of the programs and topics of discussion may be modified to best meet the participants' educational objectives.
One-day Ultrasound-Guided Regional Anesthesia Programs
Objectives
At the completion of the program the participant should be able to:
- Discuss the basic fundamental of ultrasound physics and instrumentation
- Explain the advantages of using ultrasound-guided nerve block techniques
- Identify the topographic and cross-sectional brachial plexus anatomy
- Demonstrate imaging techniques for performing ultrasound-guided upper extremities anesthesia using inner scalene, supraclavicular, infraclavicular and axillary approaches on live models
- Demonstrate imaging techniques for performing ultrasound-guided lower extremities anesthesia using femoral, popliteal, and saphenous approaches on live models
- List the indications and applications for performing ultrasound-guided central venous catheter placement and apply skills using inanimate phantoms
- Apply the information discussed in a clinical setting under supervised conditions until an accepted level of proficiency has been achieved
Topics
- Imaging fundamentals
- Indications and applications for ultrasound-guided anesthesia
- Topographic and cross-sectional brachial plexus anatomy
- Ultrasound-guided nerve block techniques: upper and lower extremity
- Ultrasound-guided central venous catheter techniques: anatomy and scan techniques
- Hands-on workshops, live scanning and phantoms
