Upon completion of the event the participant should be able to:
1. Describe Thyroid & Parathyroid Anatomy and Physiology.
2. Identify normal imaging characteristics of the thyroid gland and surrounding anatomy.
3. Describe and demonstrate routine scanning protocols for ultrasound of the thyroid.
4. Discuss patient presentation & common indications for thyroid ultrasound exam.
5. Recognize characteristics of commonly seen thyroid pathology.
6. Increase knowledge to perform and/or interpret thyroid ultrasound examinations under supervised conditions.
Target Audience
Sonographers, physicians and other medical professionals at an entry level of performing and/or interpreting thyroid ultrasound examinations. Physician participants may include, but are not limited to, endocrinologists, surgeons, family practice and internal medicine physicians.
